Peter Howarth is an award-winning wildlife and adventure photographer and film maker based in South Cumbria. Born in Saudi Arabia, he spent his early years immersed in the shifting sands of the desert and the sparkling azure water of the Red Sea. This sparked a fascination in the natural world that has stayed present his whole life. Using a camera as a tool, he showcases the wonder in the world around him. He has gone on to win multiple awards; including a Royal Television Society film award in addition to being Highly Commended in the short film category of the British Wildlife Photography Awards. His work has also opened national wildlife conferences as well as featuring on the BBC…

Now that’s out of the way let me say - hi! I am Peter Howarth and yes, I have won a few awards. I am also just a bloke in South Cumbria who loves being outside. Nothing makes me happier than hanging out in the wild. Whether that be hanging off a climbing rope, or sitting in the freezing cold waiting for something to walk by, I am addicted. While my camera is a tool, it is also a great excuse to get out there. Scientists don’t always have the time to document their work themselves so they need a guy like me. I have worked in the highlands of Scotland tracking pine martens, limestone forests working with endangered hazel dormice, and chalk meadows filming rare hoverflies. The natural world is my passion and sharing it through imagery is a privilege.
